My Strange T Mobile iphone Insurance Agreement
When I purchased my iPhone4 from t mobile a few months back I opted to take out the t mobile iPhone insurance that was offered to me at the same time that I signed the 24 month agreement in store. It seemed like a good idea at the time, simply because the retail cost of the iPhone with t mobile at the time was just shy of £750.00, so a bit of iphone insurance could go a long way to protect my back pocket should the wife put it in the washing machine again; don’t laugh, that’s just what she did with my last Blackberry!
Anyway, getting back on track a bit. Within 48 hours of having my new iPhone4, I received a call from a women with a Welsh accent, telling me that my t mobile iPhone insurance was overpriced and that she could offer me similar iphone insurance for less than half the price than I was paying. This sounded great news, as the insurance plan with t-mobile was quite expensive. She was quite persistent on this call and did not take too much notice when I explained she should call me back the following day, after I had a chance to consider the offer. One does have to be quite forceful to get sales staff off the phone.
Then the alarm bells rang, where did she get my details from? It was a brand new mobile number, only my wife had it so far. How did this sales women know I had a new iPhone from t mobile and to cap that, just how exactly did she now I had opted for t mobile iphone insurance and exactly how much per month I was paying for it? The only thing I can think of is that phone shops, or the staff within, could possibly be related to some kind of call centre service.
